Back in the Yard

Its 2015! Time to write a few blog posts. Since I wrote like 4 post in 2014, I am going to make a goal of 5 post in 2015. I don't want to set my standards too high! ha!

I look forward to sharing my current journey with you.

They Make Me Smile

  • Here, I will list recent examples of how my children make me smile. Kids are so funny! My hope is that it will encourage you to keep a record of those special moments in your children's lives that bring joy to your life. Those moments that when you look back on, you can't help but smile.
  • 3/26/2014 (Caleb) At dinner we asked the boys to name three words that describe them. Caleb responded, "Caleb. Caleb. Caleb." Well, you can't get much more descriptive than that :)

Fun with Caleb and Staycation with My Love

I have really enjoyed having one on one time with Caleb now that Clay is at school. It has been a tough transition for Caleb. He has really missed his big brother. His first words almost every morning are still, "Where's Clay?" He just adores his brother.
  • He says we can't go swimming without Clay; we need to wait until after school.
  • We went to the donut shop and he immediately picked out a drink for Clay and said we would save it for later for him.
  • I was making breakfast and he wanted me to make some for Clay too, even though Clay had already left for school.
  • I took him to eat at Chick-fil-a, a place the boys usually enjoy fully, but he was completely lost in the play area without his playmate. I had to really encourage him to slide down the slide.

I love that Caleb is fond of Clay, but I am realizing that I really need to help him find confidence in himself. I love that I get to spend more time with him now and I look forward to helping him grow spiritually and socially.

I have found that Caleb really enjoys playing games. In the photo above, we were playing Hi Ho Cherry O! So fun! He also loves Don't Break the Ice and, yesterday, we played Monopoly (sort of ). This is going to be a great year! But, I do miss my little "Big Boy." A LOT!

Oh, what a wonderful weekend with my love!

I surprised Richard with a nights stay at the Embassy Suites Northwest Arkansas. I worked with his secretary and even set up a fake business appointment to ensure he could leave early on Friday. I knew he didn't catch on because he showed up at the fake appointment with several printouts for the couple he was "supposed to be" meeting with. I do hate he went to so much work for a pretend appointment. Many thanks to the Vizena's for keeping our boys over night! (They had an AWESOME time!)

We headed out around 4:30pm. I had made us a reservation at the hotel spa, so I didn't want us to be late. We got checked in and went up to the most beautiful suite - thank you, thank you, thank you Jordan, our favorite Embassy employee and friend! We then headed to the Spa. Wow, let me tell you, if you want a relaxing atmosphere and first class treatment - this is the place to be. Richard and I are not regulars when it comes to pampering, so this was especially wonderful. From comfy robes and slippers, to the relaxation lounge, to a bathroom complete with more amenities that I have at my house (Richard thought the items in the bathroom - steam room, disposable toothbrushes, combs, etc. were so cool, I think we would have been happy if that was all he experienced), it was total bliss. Oh, and did I mention fresh grapes, strawberry/lemon/orange water, and Tazo tea! Awesome!

After our Spa treatment, we headed out to dinner. We ate a tasty meal at The Olive Garden. Richard was most excited that we got a parking space directly in front of the front door! We were totally feeling special last night :) The morning came and we had the most wonderful breakfast - complementary buffet with made to order omelets and pancakes. YUMMY! Check out time came, and I was sad to leave my peaceful getaway, but I knew the two most adorable boys would be welcoming us soon. I feel so refreshed and I didn't even have to leave NWAR.

It has been a great weekend!
