For those of you who have seen Sweet Home Alabama, I felt just like Reese Witherspoon's character last night. Richard completely surprised me by taking me to the Roger's Jewelry store at the Promenade. He allowed me to try on jewelry and pick something out to mark this special milestone in our marriage. I was totally floored and so excited!! I chose diamond stud earrings. They are so beautiful! I am not sure if I will ever take them off. Richard made me feel so special and loved. It was truly a Cinderella night! I love that man so very much!!!
Friends, our marriage has not always been easy. It has had it's ups and downs, but through it all, we have CHOSEN to love each other through the great and the difficult times. On our wedding day, we vowed to love, honor and cherish each other for as long as we both should live-for better or for worse, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, and let me tell you, we have experienced each and every one these situations.
Marriage is not a straight and easy path that you travel on at a consistent speed, it is an adventure filled with curves, hills, valleys, and mountain tops. At times there is a lot of sunshine but often, there are clouds, rain, and thunder. But if you persevere through the tough storms, you will, if you work hard and are VERY patient, experience a beautiful rainbow-in God's perfect timing.
Richard and I are wonderful examples of God's healing power of love and a lot of forgiveness. We are committed to each other and I pray that everyone who reads this post will be as willing to fight for their marriage as hard as we have fought for ours. Satan will fight hard to ruin even the best relationships, but with God on your side, Satan CANNOT win. God is always MORE powerful, MORE loving and MORE committed to blessing the children that He created for His glory.
I am excited to see what God has planned for Richard and I and our boys over the next years of our lives together. I know it is going to be an exciting ride.
Romans 8:28 (NIV) And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
PS. If you are every experience issues or concerns in your marriage, I am a great listener. I believe so strongly in marriage and I want you to know that you are not alone. I would love to encourage you and pray for you.
Congratulations to you both! And what wonderful surprises!!
ReplyDeleteYour encouraging words really spoke to me-thank you.
Congrats!! You look just as great as you did on your wedding day!!! I laughed at your wedding picture because Richard had so much hair! (My Scott totally understands!) haha I am so glad that you both were able to take a "time-out" from life and celebrate your anniv.
