It was a very active week in the Binns household filled with family, friends, and fun!
We started it off with a trip to the Creek Park (well, it used to have a creek before it all dried up this summer.). My boys and their friend Christian played in what little bit if water remains. We need rain!
On Monday night, the boys were overjoyed to have their cousin Byron spend the night. They had so much fun, playing games, getting wet in the sprinkler and of course playing on the iPad.
I just don't understand why boys find it so fun to spend countless amount if time playing a game that has no long term value. I have tried so hard to discourage video gaming activities by encouraging them to play board games, play outside, etc, but I just can't seem to reduce their interest in video games. All I can do is monitor what they play and how often, taking it out all together would just be torcher. I am just going to have to work harder to understand the mind of little boys. Who knows, maybe I will learn to pay a game or two. Probably not :)
I have a lot to learn about being the mother of a boy, but I sure love trying.
We spent Tuesday at Silver Dollar City. It was a scorcher but the park had several sprinklers set up and they gave out free water which was really nice. My sister in law Kristy discovered a new pizza place near the entrance of the park. It was wonderful and air conditioned! The heat didn't phase the boys or Kristy at all. I am a wimp. Oh, to be young and heat resistant! It was a great time!
On Wednesday and Thursday, Clay had his first football camp. He was in heaven. He gave 110%. I loved war hung him learn and have fun.
On Thursday, we went to Barns and Noble. Each year the boys get a new book on the first day of school. I allowed them to select their book this year. I had hoped Clay would not want to read the book he chose (because of it's name), but after looking it over it really isn't that bad. He is a boy and I must accept it. I have a long enough list of what they can and cannot read, watch, say, do. So Captain Underpants, here we come!
We ended the exciting week with Caleb earning his second stipe in Taekwondo. He is really getting close to earning his orange belt. I am so proud of him. He really is working hard.
We are off to the lake this weekend to see my parents. My boys are thrilled. I am so blessed to have parents that love and adore their grandchildren. I sure love and appreciate my parents.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6 ESV)
