Back in the Yard

Its 2015! Time to write a few blog posts. Since I wrote like 4 post in 2014, I am going to make a goal of 5 post in 2015. I don't want to set my standards too high! ha!

I look forward to sharing my current journey with you.

They Make Me Smile

  • Here, I will list recent examples of how my children make me smile. Kids are so funny! My hope is that it will encourage you to keep a record of those special moments in your children's lives that bring joy to your life. Those moments that when you look back on, you can't help but smile.
  • 3/26/2014 (Caleb) At dinner we asked the boys to name three words that describe them. Caleb responded, "Caleb. Caleb. Caleb." Well, you can't get much more descriptive than that :)

Kindergarten, Carsick, and Firefighting

Mom, I'm ready to go to my friend Jadens'!
So glad he's home!

Oh, what a day!

Yesterday started at about 7:15am. Clay came into the room (his room, because I slept in Caleb's bed because Caleb kicked me out of mine:). He was fully dressed - shoes, coat, and backpack included. He was ready to go to school because he was going to his friend's house to play after school. I guess he thought if we got their early, he could go home early. He was so excited! I love to see him so happy.

After dropping the kids off at school, I had a wonderful time at Panera drinking coffee with Sarah and her four year old daughter Faith. I especially enjoyed Faith's rendition of American Idol's Pants On the Ground! So funny!! (Sarah Grace - you have a partner if you want one.)

After coffee, I headed over to my very first day of elementary school registration! Yikes! What a blessing my friend, Elizabeth Smith was there greeting people. It was emotional. I am happy for Clay but I know I will miss him while he is gone each day. My, how fast they grow up!!!

Around 2:30, I picked up Caleb from school. I thought he seemed a bit more groggy than usual. I carried him to the car (I should have known something was wrong when we didn't want to run down the ramp or jump across the drainage ditch.) We headed towards home and then all of the sudden I heard I not so pleasant sound :( Caleb had gotten sick in the car. Poor little guy. He continued to get sick on the way home.

We spent the remainder of the afternoon and evening on the couch. The sickness subsided around 7pm, but he was still weak. He finally feel asleep around 10 or 11. I hate to see my kids sick and to be honest, I don't do well with mine or other people's "sickness."

The day ended with Richard, who is a Volunteer Fireman, going to his very first fully involved Fire. He had on his full gear for the first time in a read fire. Scared me to death. I am so thankful he made it home safely.

Needless to say, I am thankful for this bright and shiny new day. Caleb feels much better. Richard is safely at work, and I am up to my eyeballs in laundry - very thankful that everyone is safe and well. God is good!

Have a great day and I hope you can enjoy this beautiful sunshine.

  1. Oh my goodness! Have you read the latest entry in Melissa's blog: http://staffordmoments.blogspot.com/

Melissa's father-in-law died yesterday but Melissa couldn't be bothered to travel with her husband Chad to be with his father, even though they knew he was going to die this week.

Worse than not being bothered to see her father-in-law, Melissa has been blogging about going shopping, going to lunch with her girlfriends, going to the gym, etc. rather than being at her husband's side.

Melissa says she can't travel a few hours by car to visit her dying father in law because she is pregnant. What the heck? How can you NOT travel to see your dying father-in-law but you can go to the gym?? go shopping?? and go out to lunch??

Now Melissa says she can't even be bothered to go to the poor man's funeral. Too busy going to the gym, I guess?

How many of you girls out there would not go and visit your father-in-law if you knew he only had a few days left on this earth? How many of you would leave your husband alone to watch his father die? How many of you would rather go shopping and go to the gym than go to your father-in-law's funeral?

I am just astonished at how cold, un-Godly and cruel this woman is. Incredible.

  2. Hey Berkli,
You are too kind! You have always been so sweet and welcoming to me...it's the least I could do to greet you at school. Clay is going to do a great job in Kindergarten! I have no doubt!!! his teacher will LOVE him!! Let me know if there is anything I can do for you and/or Clay at school!
    Take care!
