Back in the Yard

Its 2015! Time to write a few blog posts. Since I wrote like 4 post in 2014, I am going to make a goal of 5 post in 2015. I don't want to set my standards too high! ha!

I look forward to sharing my current journey with you.

They Make Me Smile

  • Here, I will list recent examples of how my children make me smile. Kids are so funny! My hope is that it will encourage you to keep a record of those special moments in your children's lives that bring joy to your life. Those moments that when you look back on, you can't help but smile.
  • 3/26/2014 (Caleb) At dinner we asked the boys to name three words that describe them. Caleb responded, "Caleb. Caleb. Caleb." Well, you can't get much more descriptive than that :)

While Mom is away, little Clay is at play!

After the shaving

Looking more like Dad every day :)

Last Saturday, I went to the coffee shop to write. The phone rang and Richard said calmly - "Berkli, I need to tell you something." I got scared, thinking something really bad had happened, fortunately, no one was hurt expect for Clay's pride.

Clay had gone into our bathroom and climbed up on the laundry basket to reach Richard's clippers. He then proceeded to give himself a haircut. Richard said he cut a circle out of the back. There was nothing Richard could do but shave the rest of it off!! Clay was not thrilled.

When I got home, Richard showed me the video tape he had made. I tried not to laugh, but Clay really had done a number on his hair. He is not fond of his new look at all. He said to me when I saw him, "why did you let Dada cut my hair." He was almost in tears. Poor little guy.

He immediately put on a hat on Saturday and was super embarrassed. He even persuaded me to let him wear a hat at church yesterday - a toboggan. And of course, he wore a ball cap to school today.

I was glad to see that by the time school was over, he had taken off his cap. His teacher said around noon, after she told him he looked just fine and that none of the kids cared about his hair, he agreed to leave his hat off. I really appreciated the effort she went to to build up his confidence. Thank you Ms. Jackie.

I think he is starting to accept his haircut. Who would have thought he would care so much. My heart really ached for him. Thank goodness he is a boy and it will grow back quickly.

Better find a better place for the clippers.

Good night!
